Suggested materials to have (and so you can practise at home) are:
A RANGE OF BRUSHES:
Perhaps, Daler Rowney Graduate 5 brush synthetic watercolour set.
A SET OF WATERCOLOURS:
I like, Winsor & Newton 230471 cotman 45 Half pan Studio watercolour set.
WATERCOLOUR PAPER:
Paper pad to practise tecniques and a watercolour block for your final composition pieces.
Possible Cheaper paper:
Hahnemuhle Harmony Watercolour Spiral Pad Hot Pressed A4
Blocks:
Bockingford Watercolour Block 140lb/300gms 9x12"/228x305mm Hot Press
A watercolor block is a pad of watercolor paper that's bound on all sides with a coating of a rubber like material. You paint on the top sheet of paper and then remove it after it dries flat.
I like to use hotpress watercolour paper as it is less absorbent, smooth to allow detail and allows for more time to adjust the paint while drying. Also allowing us to play more with dispersing colour! However coldpress and rough paper is still fun to use.
